After travelling 16000km I arrived in the land of the long white cloud for a week of intense partying with friends and family.
So I went on my way! I first flew to chilly Cambridge to visit my brother and his new home.
The wind in Cambridge which I hadn't seen all winter showed its cold and raring face and was considerably more frigid than what I had been used to (even snowboarding) in München.
It was lovely catching up with Andy and all his friends over the weekend and will be poping over the ditch again shortly :)
After 1.5 hours of delightful school children screaming, fighting, yelling and throwing food on the way I arrived ready for being squished into the London underground. Like sardines in a can, I was pressed against the crowd with a gigantic tramping bag and a backpack - I instantly became everones friends.
Quickly I realised no-one cared but me. A chick next to me was bent-half over because she couldn't sit properly on the seat due to a businessman's paper. She was happy and oblivious watching Family Guy on a Ipod Nano.
Getting off at Heathrow was a brief moment of joy until I realised the lines for the Cathay Pacific check in counter were HUGE. Pleased that it was slightly smaller than the hour and a half EasyJet line (where its cheaper for you to wait in line) which eventually got me to Stanstead.
I wish I had my iPod! Material things are not to big in my book, but I really needed my iPod! Babies crying, all types of people having arguments, stress and the realisation that I had paid an extra $650 nzd ontop of my "not-so-ultra-cheap" sta travel fare had brought me here.
But-I-digress. Security loomed. Heathrow at it's best will take at least an hour to get through security, and even after that theres a hidden shoe test.
After 28 hours of flying I was in Sydney strait off the plane I went to the next international terminal for a "random explosives test". Joy!
What an amazing place! Great coffee, great people, great place! Right after getting off the plane, I had a flat white with my mum on the beach and was amazed. 30 degrees, sunny, not a cloud in the sky and I was already burnt.
2 minutes later two of my friends showed up who just happened to be on the beach, proving that NZ is still as small as they say!
An entire week of parties ensued and of course the preperations for the wedding, which was why I was there in the first place!
The majority drivers in NZ certainly have something to learn from the Germans! - initiative! Driving in Germany has made me analy retientive about following the rules, as over there, if you don't people WILL die! Obviously some of the rules can be bent, but eek.
Before I knew it It was the big day for Giles and Sheree, and me in my own way. Everything went off without a hitch and now I think are still honey-mooning! After my speech, and not forgetting the ring, I had completed my tasks and I was done! unfortunately that meant almost as quickly as I had got there, to leave again! :(
A short stop-over (of which most I can't actually recall) in Brisbane to visit the boys in Nerrang (Sorry about the bed Dave... and the marine flare.. and well, yeah you know!). Soon after I was off, with my Mountain bike in tow.
Now I'm back in München! It's a small world!
