So I've been pretty quiet the few months. I've been working day and night on the new version of YiGG, one of the biggest german social news sites

Thursday, 26th of June
YiGG Private Beta

Heya everyone,

So this weekend we'll be doing preparations for launching the open beta on Monday. Exciting stuff. I've been pretty busy, thus the slackness in updating. We used to have a saying that only the best developers are slack to update their websites. Usually because their busy developing ;)

Well, hopefully you can all see what I've been doing, and be impressed!

The site is http://www.yigg.de hopefully I'll let you know when its all running.

It's XHTML 1.1, with unobtrusive javacsript runnng on a pretty custom version of symfony 1.1

It should be quite the showcase.

Till then!

  • 58 hours, with about 7 sleeping. Had alot of problems with 64bit architecture doing different things... mySQL's shite support of views and general indexing. we haven't even got the cache going yet but we can support about 100r/s ... we need far more than that.

  • Cheers guys!, still going... 38 hours now. Migrated over 2 million rows.

Having some speed issues with the data.. damn MySQL limitations...
